Mental practice powers up your musical practice.
For my master thesis in flute pedagogy I did research on how mental practice can be applied to flute practice. Next to that I did some research on how mental practice can be taught to amateur music students.
Mental practice is the process of mentally rehearsing a movement or task without physically executing it. In sports psychology, this technique has been used for decades to improve motor skills and performance. Studies show that, in music, mental practice activates many of the same brain regions as physical practice. It can lead to increased precision, strengthen memory, enhance accuracy, and optimize learning—especially when used in combination with physical practice.
