BIOGRAPHY

Miriam De Wolf was born and raised in Brussels. At the age of 8 she had her first flute lessons at the local Music Academy of Jette with Patricia Van den Bossche.

In July 2015, she obtained her master's degree in Civil Engineering in Computer Science with distinction from KU Leuven. While studying, the passion and fascination for entrepreneurship grew. She would like to combine that with her passion for music. Her master degree at KU Leuven ended with a master's thesis on Computer-Aided Music Education, wherein she realised the lack of knowledge of music.

Once she graduated, she did take multiple entrance exams at the conservatory to pursue that other dream of becoming a flutist. She is admitted to the Royal Conservatory in Brussels in the class of Frank Hendrickx. Next to that she studies alto flute with Veronique Craps. Two years later she moves to Tilburg in the Netherlands to specialize with Valerie Debaele at the Fontys Academy for Music and Performing Arts. At the same time, she takes piccolo lessons with Liesbet Driegelinck and studies composition with Ann Kuppens at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. After obtaining her bachelor's degree with great distinction, she moves to Liège in Toon Fret's class to deepen her knowledge, including lessons in contemporary music with Ine Van Oeveren and lessons on orchestra repertoire with Lieve Goossens. After a year she starts also the master in piccolo with Miriam Arnold. The research for the master will combine her both passions, technology and music. More on that can be found here.

She met a lot of musicians along the way, a lot became friends and some became colleagues. With Paulien van Overmeire she starts the chamber music duo an enCHANTed FLUTE. They perform repertoire written for flute and soprano as well as their own arrangements.

In recent years she has taken master classes with Juliette Hurel, Vincent Cortvrint, Anna Garzuly, Carlos Bruneel, Katlijn Sergeant, Tilmann Dehnhard, Nicole Esposito, Emily Beynon, Edith Van Dyck, Wilbert Hazelzet, Sabine Warnier, Jean Prévot, Nozomi Kanda, Pierre Pouillade, Henrik Svitzer and Berten D'Hollander. She also attended master classes given by: Peter-Lukas Graf, Gaby Van Riet,
Philippe Bernold, Emmanuel Pahud, Andrea Lieberknecht and Alexis Kossenko.

Miriam has been playing with the Royal Philharmonic of Jette since she was 11, with which she still sometimes performs. From 2016-2018 she was first flute with Young Symphonic Antwerp. Since 2018 she has been playing with Frascati Symphonic in Leuven as second flute or as piccolo, depending on the project. As a freelancer she has already collaborated with, among others, Young Symphonic Leuven, I Musici Bruscellensis and the Stringendo Chamber Orchestra.

She works also as a freelance front end and web developer.
